Rev. Haley Blackwell

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, St. John’s Baptist Church of Charlotte, North Carolina ordained Haley Blackwell to the Gospel ministry.

Haley says of her ordination service:
It was a blessing to be ordained by this beautiful community. The words from my fellow ministers whom I’ve served alongside for the past year were beautiful and life giving. My ordination was on a Sunday morning during worship. It was also the same day as my installation as Minister for Youth and Young Adults. We had a lot going on and decided to just do it all in one go! I chose the passage in John 20 where Mary Magdalene encounters the resurrected Christ outside the tomb. I think it’s such a powerful passage that we don’t talk about often enough. Jesus called Mary by name and calls us by name.

Advice for those preparing for their ordination councils:
Think about your spiritual journey and let the service reflect that.
